  • Generating knowledge on how people’s different living conditions evolve during the aging process.

   EXPECTED RESULTS
  • Creation of a solid collaboration network with the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC) / Higher Scientific Research Council and with the National Institute of Aging (NIA), setting up a national and international benchmark in terms of generating knowledge by means of the longitudinal methodology.
  • “Feeding” generated knowledge to the rest of the project Axes to be able to develop each one as much as possible (Axes I, II, III and IV) in addition to transfer to society (Axes V and VI).
  • Providing valuable information for biotechnology companies, for epidemiological and demographic data on aging and the most prevalent illnesses (dementia, Alzheimer’s, etc.) in addition to socio-health and economic spending linked to elderly people.


AIM
  • To generate knowledge on everything referring to the aging process from the paradigm of active and healthy aging and put it into practice and validate it through an ambitious social innovation project.
EXPECTED RESULTS
  • The key consequences of this line of action should be: Improving wellbeing, satisfaction and autonomy for citizens aged over 65 years old.
  • Prevention and delay in the appearance of dependency situations. (Morbidity compression).
  • Increase in social cohesion, which will lead to other important advantages derived from this (associationism, social initiative, etc).
  • Enriching citizens with values (supporting others, ethical, cultural, etc).
  • Increase in participation and social productivity generated by the project’s target group.
  • Rationalisation of health spending due to improved health among elderly citizens.
  • Rationalisation of social spending due to drop and delay in dependency.
  • Turning the city of San Sebastian into the best qualified international benchmark in satisfactory aging.


AIM
  • Tackling the maximum number of action lines which contribute in one way or another to improving prevention / delay / compensation / rehabilitation of physical and mental health problems associated with aging.
EXPECTED RESULTS
  • Better knowledge on the processes which generate dependency situations and the right interventions to compensate for them.
  • New techniques and care procedures, curative and/or compensatory, innovating and advanced, in all geriatrics, gerontology and socio-health care disciplines.
  • Training experts and specialists in a wide variety of disciplines.
  • Managing to turn MATIA, in 5 years, into the best qualified international benchmark in terms of diagnosis and care for socio-sanitary problems associated with aging.
  • Making an important contribution to new diagnosis methods (genetics and physio-pathological) for neuro-degenerative and chronic illnesses in the elderly.


AIM
  • To make clear progress in terms of innovation in the socio-health care services, improving existing services and generating new innovating services.
EXPECTED RESULTS
  • Creating excellent care and management models and services in the constantly evolving social-health field.
  • Incorporating new services into society with higher added value and greater efficiency in the socio-health field.
  • Generation of best practices with a multiplying effect in the gerontology sector.
  • As a consequence of previous results, turn MATIA into the best qualified benchmark in Europe in terms of gerontology care services and turn the province of Gipuzkoa into the geographic field with the best qualified socio-health cover.



AIIM
  • Tackling projects which give people in a dependency situation greater autonomy, let them access to all goods and services and satisfy their opinions and aspirations.
EXPECTED RESULTS
  • New products and services designed and adapted to the needs, tastes and expectations of a massive new potential market: the aging population.
  • Universal accessibility, providing facilitating environments in our society.



AIM
  • Implement the greatest number of promotion initiatives for products and services, with the double focus of reaching the greatest possible number of beneficiary elderly, whilst making maximum impact on generating new activity and business promotion.
EXPECTED RESULTS
  • Setting up the benchmark and becoming an ally to identify opportunities and exploit them, in the field of the elderly and aging.
  • Creation of business initiatives to exploit products and services locally and internationally.
  • Generation of stable jobs as a consequence of these initiatives and widening existing jobs.



AIM
  • Transfer the knowledge generated in the Cluster to society and providing maximum impact and dissemination through the different lines of action.
EXPECTED RESULTS
  • Getting state recognition, from the public and private sector, for being the benchmark for training and accreditation of specialists in the areas of gerontology, geriatrics and socio-health care.
  • Participate directly in the main state and international bodies channelling information and knowledge in matters relating to aging (CSIC, IMSERSO, OMS, …).
  • Become an consultant for the public administrations (local, state, international) in matters relating to aging, and work with them, providing criteria and studies which help to give a better definition of their policies and programmes, as well as planning and developing actions in this field, particularly in this special situation of implementing laws promulgated for this field.
  • Become a support platform for emerging countries (particularly in Asia and Latin America) to develop socio-health care and for aging in general.
  • Impact on society of positive awareness-raising regarding aging.
