Matia Ageing Innovation Cluster is located in the area of Lugaritz, in the cityt of San Sebastian and it currently occupies a surface area of 38.000 m2to turn this proyect into reality.

The Cluster is located close to the UPV campus in Ibaeta and the Miramón Technology Park, just one or two kilometres away respectively, with clear opportunities for connection and synergy. The Innovation Cluster is also a member of the Miramón Technological Park.

It comprises four buildings:


  • Bermingham: Main MATIA building with different services in geriatric care.

  • Iza: Centre specialised in caring for people with a serious physical handicap.

  • Rezola: It focuses on making the Innovation Cluster an international benchmark in gerontology care.

  • INGEMA The head knowledge building in the Cluster. Ingema is designed to be an innovating cluster. This last building, designed as the main innovating cluster, will house the main core of researchers, creating spaces for spin-offs and a business nursery, as well as flats for visiting researchers and spaces for Knowledge Transfer.

INGEMA

Ingema is designed to be an innovating cluster not only for its activity but also for its building design. It will follow the latest trends in feasibility management, with the aim of improving efficiency, creativity and satisfaction and it will adapt to the most advanced standards for sustainability and environmental impact.

The new building will be built between 2009 and 2011 and it will contain:

  1. Main researchers’ block for INGEMA’s RTD development, laboratories, test areas, documentation centre, facilities (5000 m2).
  2. Spaces for spin offs and business incubator: support space to generate new ideas and create new initiatives based on developed RTD (3000 m2 ).
  3. Apartments for researchers’ visits. (500 m2).
  4. Classrooms and spaces for knowledge transfer (persons, classrooms, installations, …) (1100 m2).
  5. General services for the Cluster (900 m2).
  6. Car parks (4000 m2).
