Matia Ageing Innovation Cluster promotes its first project focused on converting San Sebastian in the first city of Spain in being incorporated to the World Network of Ageing Friendly Cities.

Matia Ageing Innovation Cluster promotes its first social innovation project with the initiative of participation of San Sebastian in the Network of Friendly Cities.  This project is framed inside Matia Cluster´s first investigation work axis focused on "the development and promotion of a fully satisfactory, healthy aging".  Through this Axe, knowledge in all refered to the process of aging since the paradigm of a healthy and active aging will be generated. The objective is to promote an accessible city, adapted to the different needs and capacities of the citizens promoting its participation. 

To promote and support this project, the 3 of March of 2009 was celebrated a conference with Dr. Alexandre Kalache, expert of the World Health Organization, and one of the authors that developed the project of Aging Friendly Cities.

On last Febrary 16th at 12:30h, the official presentation of Polo Matia Innovation Aging took place at Parque tecnológico de San Sebastián - Miramon. There were local authorities and autonomics and the president of Innobasque Pedro Luis Uriarte.
